PJR Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Picked up my Galaxy Mk1 last night, it's an Aspen - so base of the base models! As we have a 3 year old, ideally I'd like to have swivel seats and tray tables. Seats I can look for much later as I'm guessing they're expensive. Buy the question is - can you fit tray tables to the seats? It would be great for him to have somewhere to play, eat his food and draw on! Forgive me if there is an obvious answer - I'll admit I spent 5 mins in it yesterday driving it back to my girlfriends as I only had temp cover, and no time to look over it further! Quote
seatkid Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 I doubt it can be done. I find the tray tables quite useless. They must not be used on the move unless you want to risk decapitating your children. They cannot hold a great deal of weight or be lent on as they just collapse and fold down. They are too far forward and high for children to use for drawing etc. If anyone is sitting in the front seat and they move around, the tray will shake (Its attached to the seat back) and drinks can be spilled. My kids/ grandkids used them maybe a couple of times in 12 years. Quote
Mirez Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) Are you refering to the ones on the back of the front seats or the ones on the back of the rear seats? Did the aspen have the trays fitted to the rest of the seats? The ones on the back of the front seats are indeed useless but the one on the back of the center middle seat is more usefull as it can be folded down flat to make a base. On a side note, has anyone tried playing with the fixing for this? I remember years ago being in a caravan that had lift up windows - it had a similar gas lifter with a locking ring to tighten down and stop it moving when it was in the position required... something like that might fix the issue and make them more usefull? Having taken the seats apart it probably would be possible to retrofit the front ones, the mounting points are simply screwed onto the "chassis" of the seat so you'd need the tray and all the fixings - taking the seats apart isn't fun though and there may be different foam innards for the ones with/without the trays. I echo previous views, the tables rarely get used in my 52 plate. Last time the drinks went everywhere!!! definitely can't drive whilst they are in use!! Edited January 20, 2010 by andyd Quote
